Privacy policy
PathFynd follows the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 (NDPA). This page explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have.
What we collect
From parents: your name, phone number, optional email, the area you live in and what you tell PathFynd AI about the school you want. From schools and advertisers: business details, proof of identity and contact information.
We also keep a simple record of how PathFynd is used, such as searches, profile views and tour bookings, so we can see what works and keep the service fast. These records are not used to build advertising profiles.
What we never collect
Children's names, photos or medical details. When you mention special needs, we record only the type of support you're looking for. Our forms ask for a class level, such as Primary 1, and nothing more about your child.
How we use your information
We use your information only to run PathFynd, and we rely on the lawful bases set out in section 25 of the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023:
- To provide the service you asked for (contract): signing you in, showing recommendations, saving schools, booking tours and sending receipts.
- With your consent: sharing your details with a school when you book a tour or send an enquiry, and sending optional email updates. You can withdraw consent at any time.
- To meet our legal duties (legal obligation): keeping payment records and responding to lawful requests from Nigerian authorities.
- To keep PathFynd safe and fair (legitimate interests): stopping fake reviews, fraud and abuse, and fixing problems.
PathFynd AI uses what you tell it to match you with schools. Its picks are based only on fit. Payments, sponsored placements and ads never change them.
When we share your details
A school receives your name, phone number and class of interest only after you agree on the booking or enquiry screen and the school has paid for the lead. We do not sell your data.
We also share the minimum needed with the companies that help us run PathFynd: our SMS and email providers, our payment providers and our hosting provider. Each one is bound by a written agreement to protect your data and use it only for us.
Payments
Card and bank payments are processed by Paystack or Flutterwave. We keep receipts but never store your full card number.
How long we keep it
- Your account details: for as long as your account is open, then deleted within 30 days of you closing it.
- Payment records and receipts: 6 years, as Nigerian tax law requires.
- Reviews: for as long as they are published. If you delete your account, your reviews are removed.
- Tour and enquiry records: 2 years, so schools and parents can refer back to them.
Where your data is kept and how we protect it
Your data is stored on secure servers, encrypted in transit and protected by access controls. Only PathFynd team members who need it for their work can see it, and every admin action is logged. If your data is ever stored outside Nigeria, we make sure it gets the same level of protection the NDPA requires.
If we ever have a data breach that puts your rights at risk, we will tell the Nigeria Data Protection Commission within 72 hours and let you know without delay.
Cookies
We use one essential cookie to keep you signed in, and we remember small preferences on your device. We do not use advertising cookies or sell browsing data.
Your rights
You can ask to see, correct or delete your data at any time by emailing privacy@pathfynd.ng. Parents can also use "Get a copy of my data" and "Delete my account" in their account settings.
Under the NDPA you also have the right to object to how we use your data, to withdraw consent and to receive your data in a format you can take elsewhere. We reply to every request within 30 days.
Complaints
If you're unhappy with how we've handled your data, tell us first at privacy@pathfynd.ng and we'll try to put it right. You can also complain to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC) at ndpc.gov.ng.
Changes to this policy
When we make an important change, we'll tell you by SMS or email before it takes effect. The date at the top of this page shows when it was last updated.
